All images on your website must be properly licensed. Recent copyright claims highlight the risks of unlicensed images, which can result in penalties for your department. Review your site’s images and access CBS-approved resources like the image library and photo release form.
Here are resources that CBS staff should be aware of when selecting images.
- Our standard photography release form (attached to this email) for images taken by staff members or students
- Link to the image library that CBS staff have access to: Canto and Photo Library Site
If this is your first time accessing this image library, please complete the access request form.
Please note that unexpected copyright infringement can occur when using images from licensed websites such as Shutterstock and iStock and free-use sites such as Unsplash. There are often different license levels for the various photography platforms. If you need help verifying the rights of the images you use or have any questions about selecting photos, please contact the MarComms team.
All images on your site must comply with the above guidelines. If you are using any images without proper authorization or licensing, it is imperative to remove or replace them immediately. All images must be sourced appropriately, and you should retain documentation proving that you have the right to use them. If a successful copyright claim is made against an unauthorized image on your site, your unit will be responsible for covering any settlement fees resulting from such claims.
