Ghana's Pioneering Food-Processing Enterprise and Its Philanthropist CEO: Esther Ocloo and Nkulenu Industries

Dr. Esther Ocloo is one of Ghana's most prominent entrepreneurial and philantropic figures. She is known for establishing Ghana's first food-processing enterprise, as well as her work in improving the lives of African women. The case discusses how Dr. Ocloo started her first business and how she founded several non-profit organizations. The focus of the case will be on Nkulenu Industries, Dr. Ocloo's for-profit food processing enterprise. It discusses the challenges facing Nkulenu as well as opportunities for expansion. Particular attention will be paid to opportunities in the U.S. export market and the impact of the African Growth Opportunity Act on Dr. Ocloo's business. The case also discusses Dr. Ocloo's husband and children and how they have contributed to her success.
