Beth Michelson '97

Beth Michelson is Chief Financial Officer of NorthStar Earth & Space, which seeks to make space and satellite operations safer by more accurately detecting space objects. She is also Chief Financial Officer of Cartesian Growth Corporation II (NASDAQ: RENE) and a Partner at Cartesian Capital Partners, a global private equity firm.

Beth is a seasoned financial executive with more than two decades of experience managing, investing in, and serving on the boards of companies in more than a dozen countries. She currently serves on the boards of NorthStar (global), Tiendamia (Latin America), Thermal Management Solutions (UK), and Brilia (Brazil). Previously, she served as a director for Safeguard Scientifics (NASDAQ: SFE) and was also chair of its audit committee.

Prior to the formation of Cartesian in 2006, Beth worked as a subadvisor to AIG Capital Partners and previously was an associate at Wasserstein Perella. Previously, she worked as a financial journalist in Prague and in the US House of Representatives. In 2019, Beth was selected as a 92Y Women in Power Fellow. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, a master’s in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a BA with distinction from the University of Michigan. She is also a certified Chartered Financial Analyst. She lives in New York.
