Kieran Bhatia

Kieran Bhatia joined Guy Carpenter’s North America peril advisory team in September 2021. As the head of climate and sustainability for North America, Bhatia develops climate change products, supports climate regulatory responses, and delivers advisory services to (re)insurance companies. Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, Bhatia held the role of climate science program lead at bp in London, England. In this capacity, Bhatia was responsible for guiding climate change mitigation strategy, leading on physical risk resilience, creating science education material for executives, and providing physical risk information for climate-related disclosures.

Before bp, Bhatia spent eight years in academia, obtaining a PhD in meteorology and physical oceanography from the University of Miami and a post-doctoral fellowship at Princeton University. His research focuses on tropical cyclone forecasting, severe weather modeling, and how climate change could impact hurricane risk.
