A crowd of more than 200 Columbia Business School alumni, spanning 51 graduation years, gathered on May 4th for the 2017 Real Estate Alumni Reception. The annual event honors a Distinguished Real Estate Partner, and Paul Pariser ’78, Founder and Co-CEO of Taconic Investment was honored for his long-standing support, generosity, and dedication to the MBA Real Estate Program and its students. This vibrant reception, which draws alumni from near and far, is presented annually by the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate and Real Estate Circle and sponsored by Goodwin.
Professor Chris Mayer, Paul Pariser ’78, and David Sherman ’85 Prior to founding Taconic with Charlie Bendit in 1997, Paul was president and CEO of Balfour Holdings, a national investment and development company that acquired assets through the Resolution Trust Corporation and focused on the acquisition and redevelopment of master-planned communities. Ultimately, he directed the sale of Balfour Holdings to Blackstone. Paul has been active in the real estate industry since 1978, when he joined Jones Lang Wootton (JLW) as one of the firm’s first employees in the United States. During his tenure, he was named a co-managing partner and directed JLW’s nationwide operations.
A graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, he earned a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School. Paul is a member of the Board of Governors of the Real Estate Board of New York, the Advisory Board of New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, the MBA Real Estate Program Advisory Board at Columbia Business School and its affiliated Real Estate Forum, the National Council of The Arts and Sciences School at Washington University in St. Louis, and Co-Pres of The Board of Trustees of the Aspen Art Museum. In addition, Paul helped form and serves as Chairman of the Meatpacking District Improvement Association’s Board of Directors, which is the (BID) Business Improvement District for the Meatpacking area of NYC.
