Columbia Business School Asian Alumni Club (CBSAAC) is hosting a Panel Discussion and Networking Reception on November 01, 2006, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm EST. The event will take place at the Merrill Lynch Citicorp Center, located at 153 E. 53rd St. Lexington Ave., on the 47th Floor. Transportation options include the 6 train to 51st St. and the E & V train to 53rd St. For further information regarding this event, you can contact Heidi Thompson by sending an email to cbsaac@yahoo.com.

The theme of the evening is "Developments in Japan and the Japanese Markets." The discussion aims to explore Japan's recent economic developments, including the end of a deflationary spiral and the Bank of Japan's move to increase interest rates for the first time in over five years. Topics may include the implications of monetary policy changes, the carry trade, political and policy changes post-Koizumi, Japan's role in the global equities market, and investment opportunities within the country, including real estate and alternative investments.

Speakers for the event include:
- Masayuki Ishihara – Global Head of Fixed-Income Research, Nikko Asset Management, and Chief Investment Officer, Nikko Asset Management, International
- Margaret Moore – Japanese Equity Portfolio Manager, American Century
- Beth Campbell ‘94 – Director, Real Estate Companies Group, Standard & Poor’s
- Ferenc Sanderson – Senior Research Analyst, Lipper Hedgeworld

The panel will be moderated by Alicia Ogawa, Director of The Program on Alternative Investments, Center on Japanese Economy and Business, Columbia Business School.

Registration for the event is available online through PayPal at the link provided in the announcement. The cost is $35 if registered via PayPal through October 22 and $45 if registered from October 23 to 31. Attendees must register by October 31, and due to security measures, walk-ins are not permitted.
