The annual MBA Media  & Entertainment Conference, organized by CBS, NYU Stern, Duke Fuqua, MIT Sloan, and Wharton, was held on Friday, February 25th, in Low Library & Lerner Hall. Despite the rain, CBS’s campus hosted over 500 students, alumni, and industry professionals at the sold-out event. The morning keynote address was given by Leslie Moonves, President and CEO of CBS Corporation, who cracked jokes about Charlie Sheen and talked candidly about the challenges and excitement involved in running a network before opening up the discussion to questions from the audience. The afternoon keynote featured a fireside chat with Arthur "Artie" Minson (CBS ’97), CFO of AOL, and John K. Martin (CBS ’94), CFO of Time Warner, moderated by Jonathan Knee. The CFOs talked about the ill-fated merger of their two companies and also gave advice to students on the types of jobs available to MBA graduates in media companies. Throughout the day, conference attendees listened to panels of their choosing on topics ranging from social media, mobile applications, and interactive television to film financing, media in emerging markets, and media investment banking. The day concluded with a networking reception and an afterparty at Havana Central. Feedback from the event has been positive and everyone is looking forward to the 2012 conference.
