On April 7, 2001, students from Columbia Business School beat competitors from Berkeley, Chicago, MIT, and Wharton to win the Fifth Annual Financial Engineering Case Competition, sponsored by Merrill Lynch and Appaloosa Management. Mark Broadie served as faculty advisor; the winning students were from Mark's courses "Security Pricing: Models and Computation" and "Computational Finance".
