The Class of 2006 joined the greater Columbia community today for the University Commencement ceremony on Low Library Plaza.
More than 30,000 students, alumni, faculty and guests attended the commencement, the capstone experience for all of the University’s graduate and undergraduate students. University President Lee C. Bollinger delivered the commencement address.
Sallie Krawcheck MBA ’92, chief financial officer of Citigroup, received the University Medal of Excellence. Recipients of honorary degrees included Maya Lin, the architect who designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.; Kenneth Chenault, CEO of American Express and a board member of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation; and Irving Weissman, a pioneer in stem cell research.
The School held its Recognition Ceremony on May 14 in the Madison Square Garden Theater. Twenty students received awards for academic excellence and service. In the book included with their class gift, the graduates pledged to support the School by providing opportunities for others to follow in their footsteps.
The Executive MBA Recognition Ceremony will be held Saturday, May 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. in Miller Theatre. A reception in Revson Plaza will follow.
