On October 21, over 1,400 alumni, students, faculty and staff members, and friends contributed a record-breaking $1.5 million to Columbia Business School, earning an additional $48,000 in challenge match funds from University Trustees. Adding to this success, the School won all three of the day’s challenges for the most international donors, further highlighting the generosity of the School’s outstanding global network.
“I’ve benefitted immensely from the Columbia community,” explains Emily Cleghorn ’16, “so it was important to me to start giving back as well.”
All Giving Day contributions benefit the Columbia Business Fund and the EMBA Fund. These annual funds provide critical unrestricted support that immediately impacts the people and programs that make the School a leader in management education. Faculty research, financial aid, an innovative and immersive curriculum, and industry-focused programming serving the entire Columbia Business School community are just a few examples of what the annual funds make possible.
“It’s exciting to see the widespread participation on Giving Day and throughout the year. Participation grows each year and will ensure that our School remains at the very center of business for the next 100 years,” says Barbara Clapp, executive director of individual giving.
Many alumni, like Andres Small ’12, are four-time Giving Day donors. “Giving Day is a reminder of the positive impact Columbia Business School has had on my life and an opportunity to stay connected.”
“It is an excellent demonstration of the strength and commitment of our invaluable network,” adds Lisa Yeh, senior associate dean of external relations and development for the School. “With such an engaged community, we look forward to the School’s bright future.”
