Columbia Business School’s MBA and Executive MBA (EMBA) programs have been officially designated STEM programs by the US Department of Homeland Security, reflecting the integration of technology and data analytics into the School’s curriculum. The designation is retroactive to the School’s May 2019 graduates. Calling the STEM designation a vital enhancement to the MBA and EMBA programs, Dean Costis Maglaras emphasized the School’s commitment to providing all graduates with the knowledge and skills they will need to thrive in rapidly evolving, data-driven industries. The designation also affords international students the opportunity to work in the U.S. for up to three years after graduation under an extended Optional Practical Training (OPT) permit.
“Technology and data analytics affect all aspects of business, from investment to innovation, in a diversity of fields, including healthcare, artificial intelligence, transportation, and energy,” Maglaras said. “Our faculty have made great strides to infuse data science and analytics throughout our curriculum, a trend that will continue in the future.”
