This semester, Columbia Business School appointed Kate Kerrigan as the administrative director of the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate. Prior to her appointment, Kerrigan, a lawyer, was the executive director of the Dumbo Improvement District (BID), overseeing the daily operations of one of Brooklyn, and New York City’s most dynamic BIDs. Before joining the DUMBO BID, Kate was associated with the Downtown Alliance, the largest BID in North America, since its inception in the mid 1990’s. Kate, a graduate of Brown University and New York Law School, has also worked in commercial real estate in New York.
Professor Lynne Sagalyn noted, “The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate continues to develop groundbreaking programming, leveraging our relationships with professionals in real estate and across a number of related fields. I am so pleased to have Kate on board as we continue to educate future generations of real estate leaders.”
“For nearly ten years, the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate has cultivated a wide network of dedicated and distinguished professionals. Building on my experience in neighborhood and economic development, I look forward to our developing exciting and new platforms to expand and support our strong network of students, alumni and industry leaders,” said Kate.
During Kate’s tenure at the DUMBO BID, the organization re-opened The Archway, under the Manhattan Bridge, a former NYC Department of Transportation working facility, and re-adapted it as a destination for arts, events and eclectic community programming. Kate’s accomplishments at the Downtown Alliance include the creation of a “Construction Mitigation Group,” an advocacy group comprised of the area’s leading commercial stakeholders organized to minimize the impact of intense post 9/11 construction activity throughout Lower Manhattan.
