The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate launched a site collecting its faculty’s research on the U.S. housing crisis on December 17. Designed to serve as a guide to related background and analyses, the site also compiles mentions of faculty and their research in the media.Additionally, the site tracks the development of Professor Chris Mayer’s plan with Dean Glenn Hubbard to lower mortgage rates. The plan, described by Mayer and Hubbard in a December 17 op-ed in the Wall Street Journal (Low-Interest Mortgages Are the Answer), closely resembles the one currently under consideration by the U.S. Treasury. The site will be updated frequently throughout the months ahead to reflect faculty responses to the latest developments in the crisis.
