Professor Gerald L. Curtis, Burgess Professor of Political Science and CJEB core faculty member, recently published an article, "Japan's Cautious Hawks," in the March/April 2013 issue of Foreign Affairs. In the parliamentary elections this past December, the Liberal Democratic Party and its leader, Shinzo Abe, returned to power. Although for many this appears to be the beginning of a sharp rightward shift in Japan, Professor Curtis argues such a change is unlikely: Japan’s leaders remain cautious, and its public risk averse.For the full article, please click here.
