On February 1, The Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center welcomed a new face: Olivier Toubia, the Glaubinger Professor of Business, has assumed the role of faculty director for the center. He replaces Professor Sheena Iyengar, who most recently held the position. Working closely with Vince Ponzo, the Lang Center’s senior director, Professor Toubia will provide guidance on shaping the entrepreneurship curriculum at the School, as well as on increasing the center’s connections and presence across the University. “Under Olivier’s leadership, the Lang Center will continue to prepare the next generation of leaders not only to connect the dots, but to think entrepreneurially — a critical skill that we try to instill in all Business School students,” says Dean Glenn Hubbard. “I know Vince and the Lang Center staff are excited to work with Olivier, and I hope you will join me in congratulating him on his new role and in thanking Sheena for her leadership.” Professor Toubia joined the School in 2004 as an assistant professor in the Marketing Division, and he held the David W. Zalaznick Associate Professorship of Business from 2007–10. Professor Toubia has taught both full-time and EMBA students how marketing can help create value for customers, owners, shareholders, and employees. “I am honored and humbled by the opportunity,” Professor Toubia says of his new role. “My main immediate goal will be to work with Vince Ponzo to continue to structure and optimize the entrepreneurship curriculum at the School. My predecessor, Professor Sheena Iyengar, did some wonderful work toward that goal, on which we will build.” In the longer term, as part of his mission to strengthen and grow the Lang Center’s connections, Professor Toubia says he hopes to increase Business School faculty engagement for both research and teaching in the area of entrepreneurship. Since its inception in 1996, the Lang Center has fostered entrepreneurship by providing students with the tools they need to start, run, and grow businesses.
