The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate continues its series of Real Estate Student Mentoring Breakfasts.  Columbia Business School alumni met with current real estate MBA students over four separate breakfast events in the fall 2009 academic semester.  Mark Green '06, Managing Director and Co-Head of CMBS Capital Markets at UBS, kicked off the year with an informal session that covered the then-current state of the market.  Students were given the opportunity to ask wide-ranging questions and left the session with greater knowledge of current events that allowed them to have greater insight into the topics covered in their real estate courses. Nancy Lashine '81, Managing Partner and Founder of Park Madison Partners, gave insight into the current fund-raising environment today’s investors are facing.  In addition, Ms. Lashine offered her perspective on the importance of maintaining a healthy work life balance and enjoying one’s work. Gordon Whiting '94, Senior Portfolio Manager at Angelo Gordon, provided students with a look at his background and an informative glimpse into the world of sale leaseback real estate.  Mr. Whiting also emphasized the value in forming a strong network while at CBS and afterwards. David Dowell '04, Vice President at The Praedium Group, presented the group with a current picture of real estate private equity and the activities involved in that segment of the industry.  Mr. Dowell also provided the students with his personal story as a career switcher into real estate after business school. If you are an alum interested in serving as a mentor, please contact Courtney Fletcher at 212-854-6119 or cf2385columbia.edu.
