On September 6 the School announced the establishment of a new Private Equity Program that will be directed by Laura Resnikoff ’76, associate professor of management. Building on the School’s many ties to the private equity industry, the program will bring together students, alumni and prominent industry leaders. “Management education must keep pace with global business trends in order to prepare students for business leadership, and our Private Equity Program is one example of how we are constantly adapting our programming to the dynamic global economy,” said Dean Glenn Hubbard. “By providing points of access to the private equity industry and facilitating networking opportunities for students, alumni and practitioners, the Private Equity Program reinforces the School’s commitment to linking theory with contemporary business practice.” The School already boasts a robust relationship with the private equity industry. Prominent alumni practitioners include Russ Carson ’67, general partner and cofounder of Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, one of the country’s largest private investment firms, and Henry Kravis ’69, founding partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., one of the world’s largest and most successful private equity firms. In her new role as director, Resnikoff will be the School’s primary contact with the private equity industry. She will also teach a new course on private equity in addition to her popular course on turnaround management. Since she joined the faculty in 1991, Resnikoff has developed several related initiatives at the School, including an alumni advisory board, a series of alumni mentoring breakfasts, a mentoring program between Executive MBA and full-time MBA students and an annual event with London Business School. The directorship will be supported by a Building Relationships with Industry and Defining Graduate Education in Business (BRIDGE) Fellowship, made possible by a generous gift from an alumnus that supports faculty members who are developing initiatives aimed at bringing practitioners into the classroom.
