Dean Glenn Hubbard presented the annual Dean’s Prize for Teaching Excellence to management professors Toby Stuart and Daniel Ames in recognition of their outstanding teaching in the core curriculum.

The annual award was established in 1998 by alumnus George Weigers ’61 to recognize faculty achievements in the classroom. Stuart, the Arthur J. Samberg Professor of Business, joined Columbia Business School in 2003 as a tenured faculty member from Chicago Business School.

Professor Stuart is nationally known for his research in strategy and is widely acknowledged to be an excellent teacher. Since arriving at the School, Professor Stuart taught three sections of Strategy Formulation and was involved in revamping the curriculum for the core course. Assistant Professor Daniel Ames joined the management division in 2002 and conducts research on social judgment and behavior.

In the last year alone, Professor Ames has taught six Leadership classes in the core curriculum, to enthusiastic student reviews. He is also the recipient of the 2003 Best Paper Award from the organizational behavior division of the Academy of Management.
