The Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Scholarship application deadline for Columbia students is Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Each year the Center conducts a University-wide competition on behalf of the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Scholarship Foundation and nominates one Columbia student to receive full tuition and some living expenses for a one-year program of undergraduate or graduate study in Japan. For the academic year 2012-2013, send your application by Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Each year the Center conducts a University-wide competition on behalf of the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Scholarship Foundation and nominates one Columbia student to receive full tuition and some living expenses for a one-year program of undergraduate or graduate study in Japan. 

For any Columbia undergraduate or graduate students interested in studying in Japan for the academic year 2012-2013, send your application to Emiko Mizumura at em2265columbia.edu or deliver your application to the Center in 2M1-O, Uris Hall by Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Copies of the application and the rules concerning this Scholarship are available in Emiko’s office, 2M1-O in Uris Hall.  If you wish to receive those documents via e-mail, please e-mail Emiko at em2265columbia.edu. What is the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Scholarship? 

The Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Scholarship Foundation each year awards a scholarship to one Columbia student who wishes to study at a university or college in Japan based on the recommendation of the Center on Japanese Economy and Business, Columbia Business School.  

Who is eligible? 

  • All matriculated Columbia University graduate and undergraduate students are eligible to apply. This year’s scholarship is for applicants who are interested in studying in Japan for the academic year 2012-2013.  
  • The student shall not be domiciled in Japan and wish to study at a university or college in Japan. 
  • The student shall be superior in studies and personality, mentally and physically fit, and 35 years of age or younger. 
  • The student shall aim to become engaged in business or study of science as a lifetime pursuit. 
  • The student shall lack an adequate financial base to support his or her intended study in Japan. Do I need to be majoring in Economics or Business? No. Any major is fine.  Past applicants majored in a range of fields (e.g., psychology, East Asian studies, business, political science). What will be covered by the Scholarship? 
  • Categories of the scholarship are (1) Undergraduate scholarship (2) Graduate scholarship. 

Tuition fee; Tuition fee shall be covered in full. For more details, please contact Emiko at em2265columbia.edu. 

How to apply? 

Submit a complete application to the Center on Japanese Economy and Business (Attention to Emiko Mizumura) no later than Wednesday, February 29, 2012.   

Copies of the Foundation’s application and the guidelines are available in Room 2M1-O, Uris Hall.  If you wish to receive them via e-mail, contact Emiko at em2265columbia.edu. Please note that the successful applicant will need to apply directly to the Japanese university of his/her choice for admission.
