New study spaces equipped with electrical outlets and wireless connectivity have been added to the Thomas J. Watson Library in Uris Hall as part of a joint effort between students and the administration to enhance the library’s services.

Ten tables with a total of 56 seats have been added to the first-floor mezzanine, bringing the available study space to 654 places. Library officials worked out a plan to move 29,000 volumes to an off-site shelving facility in Princeton, N.J., after students asked the dean to make more space available.

The electrical and construction work was completed while students were away over the winter break. Since 2002, the library has added 146 study spaces.

The Watson Library has one of the largest collections in the United States of materials for the study of management, finance, economics and related fields.
