Jacopo Perego

Research: Jacopo Perego is an applied theorist who specializes in the economics of information. As technology advances and information systems become increasingly complex, the analysis of how economic agents strategically acquire, use, and share information is essential to understand many important economic phenomena. Using tools from network economics, political economy, and experimental economics, Jacopo’s work focuses on topics such as the optimal design of information policies, the competitive provision of information, and strategic communication.

Ph.D.: Jacopo received his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University. On being at Columbia: “I am particularly excited to start interacting with such an outstanding group of colleagues and I look forward to learning from them! Columbia has a unique combination of talents in my field, and I could not wish for a better place to grow professionally.”

Fun Fact: As a kid, Jacopo grew up in a place on the Italian Riviera that counts fewer people than there are students at Columbia. Luckily, it also happened to be a UNESCO World Heritage site. In his off-time, Jacopo enjoys long-distance running and beach volleyball.
