International law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP announced that Margaret Isa Butler '01, member of the Private Equity Program's Advisory Board, has joined its New York City office as of counsel where she will focus on mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. Prior to her legal career she was an investment banker.

"Margaret’s transactions experience complements the firm’s growing M&A practice," said David Schwartzbaum, Co-Chair of the Global M&A Steering Committee at Greenberg Traurig. "She brings experience with private equity industry best practices, sound business judgment, and a keen execution focus that serves her clients well."

Butler provides general advisory services to help investment funds respond to the institutionalization of private equity on an outsourced, flexible basis and in proportion to their scale. She has broad deal advisory and execution experience on both the buy side and sell side, and has led the execution of significant and complicated deals, including cross-border, distressed and other high-stakes M&A and joint ventures. Butler also assists private equity clients with managing back office functions and corporate compliance at both the fund and the portfolio company levels.
