Real Estate Mentoring Breakfasts

The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate hosts six to eight mentoring breakfasts each academic year. Leading real estate professionals, many of them alumni and members of Columbia's Real Estate Circle, meet with small groups of MBA students to share insights on building a winning career path, the current job market, and the state of the industry.

In the spring of 2011 we welcomed two real estate mentors: Max Newland '05, Fremont Realty Capital and Percy R. Pyne '73, The Pyne Companies. Each hosted a mentoring breakfast on campus, leading dynamic discussions with 10-12 current MBA students. Mr. Newland and Mr. Pyne spoke frankly with the students about their experiences since graduating from Columbia. They each provided general career guidance and discussed their thoughts on the current real estate market and where they see future opportunities. We are grateful to the spring 2011 mentors for the engaging dialogue and valuable advice they shared with the students.

Real Estate Speaker Lunches

The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate hosts four Real Estate Speaker Lunches each academic year. The Real Estate Speaker Lunches provide a great opportunity for students to hear from a distinguished real estate professional. Students get to learn about the speaker's careers and gain valuable insight on the state of the real estate market.

During the spring 2011 semester, David Henry, of Kimco Realty Corporation, and Richard Richman '73, of the Richman Group each led an engaging lunch-time discussion with approximately 20 students. Both lunch speakers discussed their careers, the national and global real estate markets, and where they see opportunities for students graduating in 2011 and 2012.  Mr. Henry advised students to remain grounded and act cheerful in the workplace. Mr. Richman stressed the importance of enjoying your work. We are grateful to Mr. Henry and Mr. Richman for their participation and continued ties to the School.
