On Thursday, April 28th, 2016, the Real Estate Association (REA) and members of the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate visited the offices of Floored Inc. Floored is a next-generation real estate software company building and marketing space modification and visualization tools for the real estate industry. Floored is using its products, Luma and Protofit, to allow architects, developers, owners, brokers and others to experience the look, feel, and scale of their projects before ever breaking ground.

The group of Columbia Business School students met with Peter Alden, the Vice President of Sales at Floored, and went over the history of the company and the flagship products that Floored has been developing: Luma and Protofit. Peter discussed his career trajectory and time in commercial real estate brokerage and how Floored is changing the real estate industry.

The next part of the visit included a hands on demonstration of the new Floored VR (virtual reality) platform that allows you to physically enter a virtual 3D world and walk around. Floored VR operates on the HTC Vive platform.

On behalf of Columbia Business School’s Real Estate Association, we would like to thank Floored, Inc. for allowing us to explore their world.

Brian Hwang '17 is the AVP of Site Tours for the Real Estate Association at Columbia Business School. He is a first-year student focusing on real estate finance and development.
