Charles Griffith '16 has been named an International Council of Shopping Centers Foundation Charles Grossman Graduate Scholar. The award includes a scholarship as well as a grant for travel expenses to attend ICSC RECon, the global convention for the shopping center industry, which will take place in Las Vegas in May. Griffith, who is an active member of the Real Estate Association, worked as a senior consultant at Jones Lang LaSalle Beijing, and as a commercial broker at Cushman & Wakefield Hong Kong prior to entering Columbia Business School. He earned a bachelor of Economics and a bachelor of East Asian Studies from Haverford College.
"The retail real estate industry is evolving faster than it ever has, driven my unprecedented shifts in demographics with technology and environmental issues becoming new value drivers," Griffith explained. "These emerging trends will have profound implications for investors, developers, and users of real estate in an increasingly urbanized world."
The ICSC Foundation graduate scholarship program was created to encourage extraordinary students to select retail real estate as their career path. The scholarship is named after the late Charles Grossman '68, who chaired the foundation from 2006 to 2007.
