Jay Bloom, JD '81

Founder & Managing Partner

Mr. Bloom is a Founder and Managing Partner of Trimaran Capital Partners, and serves a manager of Trimaran Fund II, an existing private equity fund. Until February 2006, Mr. Bloom was a Vice Chairman of CIBC World Markets Corp. and co-head of Leveraged Finance.

Prior to joining CIBC World Markets Corp., Mr. Bloom was a co-founder and Managing Director of The Argosy Group L.P., an independent investment bank that focused on leveraged finance and restructuring advisory services. CIBC acquired The Argosy Group in 1995.  Until February 1990, Mr. Bloom was Managing Director at Drexel Burnham Lambert and prior to 1985, was a Vice President of Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb. Prior thereto, Mr. Bloom practiced law at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison. Mr. Bloom currently serves on the Board of Directors of Chancelight Behavioral Health and Education.

He previously served on the Boards of Accuride Corporation, Brite Media Group LLC, Domino’s Pizza, Inc., El Pollo Loco, Inc., Freightcar America, Inc., Global Crossing Ltd., Heating Oil Partners, L.P., IASIS Healthcare Corporation, KCAP Financial Inc., Millennium Digital Media Holdings, Norcraft Companies, L.P., NSP Holdings LLC, PrimeCo Wireless Communications LLC, Source Financial Corporation, Standard Steel, LLC and Transportation Technologies, Inc.  He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Richman Center for Business, Law and Public Policy at Columbia University and as a member of the Cornell University Council and the Cornell University Undergraduate Business Program Advisory Council and is an emeritus member of the Cornell University Johnson Graduate School of Management Advisory Council.

Mr. Bloom graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a B.S and M.B.A, and J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a member of the Board of Editors of the Columbia Law Review.
