In its annual "30 Under 30" list, Forbes handpicks and highlights 30 of the "brightest young entrepreneurs, breakout talents, and change agents" in 20 different industries, according to its editors, Caroline Howard JRN '01 and Emily Inverso. This year, Columbia Business School has a robust presence on the list, with two alums and one current student making the cut.
Jordana Kier '14 was featured for her innovative startup, LOLA, a direct-to-consumer, subscription-based feminine care company that she co-founded with Alexandra Friendman. LOLA makes hypoallergenic cotton tampons free of additives, dyes, chemicals, and synthetics. The company has raised $1.2 million in venture capital backing.
Stephanie Korey ’15 was included for her startup, Away, which she launched with co-founder Jen Rubio. The luggage company produces high-end gear sold exclusively direct-to-consumer, with the aim of making traveling in style easier and more affordable for all.
And Jonathan Birnbaum ’16, vice president at Morgan Stanley, made the list for serving as the COO of the bank’s US credit trading group, where he helps build and implement financial technology like a new algorithmic tool that helps match sales and trading groups with corporate bond buyers and sellers.
