Robert Amen ’73, the retired chairman and CEO of International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF), and Frank Zarb, chairman of Frank Zarb Associates, have joined Columbia Business School’s Executives in Residence Program.Amen, who retired in September from IFF, worked for 26 years with International Paper, where he served as president from 2003 to 2006. He sits on the advisory board of the Deming Center at Columbia University. In addition, he serves on the Leadership Committee of the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund and serves on the board of directors of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.Zarb currently serves as a chairman of Promontory Financial Group and is the managing director and a senior advisor at Hellman & Friedman.  From 2000 to 2001, he served as CEO of the National Association of Securities Dealers and the NASDAQ Stock Market. He has also served as CEO of Alexander & Alexander Services and Smith Barney. Zarb has served in various assignments with the Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush and Clinton administrations, and was appointed by the Governor of New York to several leadership and task force assignments.Amen and Zarb join 10 other executives in residence at the School. As part of the program, they will have the opportunity to give guest lectures, work with student clubs and conduct brown-bag luncheons for students with common interests. Executives are available to counsel students on career planning, strategy and professional development.The Executives in Residence Program was established in 1977 by the late Robert W. Lear, who served as the chairman and CEO of F. & M. Schaefer Corporation. Donald C. Waite III ’66, who is a member of the School’s Board of Overseers, has served as director of the program since 2002. Executive participants in the program are appointed for renewable one-year terms.
