Hitendra Wadhwa of the Marketing Division has been named Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia Business School, effective July 1, 2011. Wadhwa teaches in the MBA, EMBA, and Executive Education programs. In 2007, he received the Most Engaging and Dynamic Professor Award from the Marketing Association of Columbia and the Lear Award for distinguished service to students.

Wadhwa joined the School in 2002 after receiving an MBA and PhD from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has an extensive professional career in strategy consulting, quantitative marketing, and technology entrepreneurship, having previously served as a consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Wadhwa also founded and led Paramark, a technology company selected by Technologic Partners/VentureWire as one of the top 100 internet technology companies in 2000 and 2001. His new role at the School will provide him the opportunity to combine his real-world experience with a passion for teaching.

“I hope to continue to help our students, and the global management community, to tackle the dynamic landscape of marketing and leadership challenges of our times by synthesizing the latest science, best practices, and tools,” Wadhwa said. “I plan to do this by exploring new paths in teaching, not just in terms of content, but also in the themes we explore and in how we build learning communities and integrate these lessons into our day-to-day lives.”
