Janet Horan has been named senior associate dean and chief operating officer for Columbia Business School, effective July 1.

Horan is currently the senior associate dean for finance and administration. In her enhanced role, she will be responsible for the long-range financial planning for the School. Horan also will continue to manage, with Vice Dean Amir Ziv, the School’s degree programs; work with the leaders of the Operations, Human Resources, and Financial Planning offices; guide the Information Technology Group; and act as the School’s point person with Columbia University’s Manhattanville task force and architects.

“Faculty and staff respect Janet’s careful and thorough work, and I, like many at the School and throughout the University, rely on her for advice on a range of management and facilities challenges,” said Dean Glenn Hubbard. “She has provided strong leadership across a number of School priorities and initiatives and has become increasingly involved in the School’s administrative activities.”

Prior to her current position, Horan was director of Financial Planning for three years, during which time she worked with all constituents of the School, including faculty members, administrators, research centers, and students. Before her arrival at the School, Horan was a senior manager in the Office of the Controller of Columbia University for five years, following nine years at Yeshiva University.

Horan holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
