Nearly 600 alumni and guests from 37 countries attended Columbia Business School’s Pan-European Reunion in London October 14-16.
Attendees were treated to faculty and industry leader panels on current business topics, and social gatherings in some of London’s classic venues. Speakers included Andrea Farace ’82, managing director and COO of Central Eastern Europe and Middle East division for Citigroup; Henry Kravis ’69, founding partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.; and Shai Weiss ’97, founding partner of the Virgin Green Fund. Other alumni speakers included Wolfgang Bernhard ’88, member of the board of management, Mercedes Benz, Germany; Gaurav Dalmia ’90, chairman, Landmark Holdings, India; and John Martin ’94, chief financial and administrative officer, Time Warner, New York.
Panel topics included creative strategy, the global economy, and healthcare innovations. Dean Glenn Hubbard participated in a panel moderated by Bruce Greenwald, the Robert Heilbrunn Professor of Finance and Asset Management, on the global economic environment, along with Professor Jordi Galí from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Lord Nicholas Stern of the London School of Economics.
Alumni and guests attended social events in London’s Guildhall, the Royal Courts of Justice, and the Royal Horticultural Halls. Several guests also took part in optional Sunday tours to Windsor Castle, Spencer House, and the Frieze Art Fair.
Sponsorship for the reunion was provided by 45 sponsors, including benefactor sponsor Coach, led by Board of Overseers member Lew Frankfort ’69. The company also hosted a reception in their new flagship London store for 200 alumni and guests. Overall, $1,035,700 was raised in sponsorship support for the event.The next global reunion will take place in Singapore in October 2014.
