Columbia Business School is proud to announce the Dong-Bin Shin Fellowships, four two-year, full-tuition fellowships open to students entering in August 2014. To be considered, students must apply by January 6, 2014.

The fellowships are supported by Dong-Bin Shin '81, a member of the School’s Board of Overseers, and part of Shin’s recent $4 million gift to the School. Shin is chairman of the Lotte Group, a South Korea- and Japan-based diversified company that currently comprises more than 70 companies in industries including everything from candy and ice cream, manufacturing, retail, entertainment, petro-chemicals, real estate development, and financial services.

All fellowship recipients must have excellent academic backgrounds and demonstrate financial need. The four awards are designated for international students, each from a different region: Middle Eastern or African, European, Latin American, and South Korean backgrounds.

"Fellowships have an immediate and tangible impact — they help us attract and reward the most outstanding and diverse students to campus," said Marilena Botoulas, director of financial aid. "They also provide vital financial support for those in need."

The Lotte Group has major operations worldwide, including in China, the Philippines, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Russia, among other locations. Shin is an avid supporter of the School, having hosted and sponsored the Chazen Institute’s annual Study Tour to South Korea for several years. In recognition of Shin’s generosity, the Dong-Bin Shin '81 and Lotte Classroom will be established at the School’s new Manhattanville facilities.
