Record Number of Columbia Business School Alumni Join the Board of Overseers

Columbia Business School has announced the appointment of six new members to its Board of Overseers, all of whom are alumni. Joining the board are Thomas J. DeRosa ’88, Sajjad Ebrahim ’73, Jamie Kern Lima ’04, Paulo Lima ’04, Sheldon Stone ’78, and Lihong Wang ’99.

Thomas DeRosa is the chief executive officer of Welltower, an S&P 500 company. Under his leadership, Welltower has grown into the global leader in healthcare real estate with a broad, diversified portfolio across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada. Since DeRosa assumed his current position in April 2014, Welltower’s enterprise value has grown to over $40 billion. He also serves as a governor of the World Economic Forum.   

Sajjad Ebrahim is the chairman and chief executive officer of Lark Investments. He previously served as the president of Par-Pak, a plastics company based in Toronto. Over the course of 36 years, Ebrahim built the company into a major industry player, with 900 employees and over $200 million in revenue. Through philanthropic undertakings, Ebrahim has made significant contributions to the wellbeing of whole neighborhoods, and benefited countless Canadians.   

Jamie Kern Lima is co-founder and co-CEO of IT Cosmetics, a top-selling makeup and skincare brand at QVC, ULTA Beauty, Sephora, and Selfridges. IT Cosmetics recently became the largest acquisition in L’Oréal’s history, also making Kern Lima the first female CEO of a L’Oreal brand in the company’s century-long history. Kern Lima appears live on QVC in many of IT’s 200-plus shows annually and is a passionate philanthropist.   

Paulo Lima is co-founder and co-chief executive officer of IT Cosmetics. He oversees the financial, operational, legal, and logistical sides of the business. Lima is a KPMG QuantumShift Fellow, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year honoree, and two-time winner of Goldman Sachs’ 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs.   

Sheldon Stone, the founding principal of Oaktree Capital Management, is the head of Oaktree’s high yield bond area. In this capacity, he serves as co-portfolio manager of Oaktree’s U.S. high yield bond and global high yield bond strategies and has supervisory responsibility for European high yield bonds. Stone is a trustee of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and serves on the investment committee of Bowdoin College, his alma mater.   

Lihong Wang is a managing director of Bain Capital Private Equity Asia. Wang has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry in the US and Asia. She currently focuses on Bain Capital’s private equity activities in China, sits on the Asia Investment Committee, and leads investments and portfolio management efforts in China. Before joining Bain Capital, Wang was an executive director at Morgan Stanley. 

Columbia Business School’s Board of Overseers has 113 members across the globe who contribute their valuable expertise and wide-ranging business ties to advance the School’s thought leadership and help students and alumni continue to lead and shape the business world.
