Nicholas Bienstock '96 is the Co-Managing Partner of Savanna. In a recent interview with Eric Liang '17, Mr. Bienstock discussed trends in creative office development in Brooklyn, starting his own business, and gave advice for Columbia Business School students aspiring to have careers in real estate.

On Friday February 5, 2016, Columbia Business School’s Real Estate Association, in partnership with the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate, hosted the 7th annual Real Estate Career Forum at the Columbia Club of NY.  Despite the snow and difficult weather, over 20 prestigious companies from varying parts of the Real Estate industry attended the Career Forum to meet and exchange information with current Business School students. 

Addressing a packed auditorium of industry professionals, faculty, and alumni of Columbia Business School, Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group offered his thoughts on the macroeconomic investment climate and its relationship to the current state of the real estate markets.

The panel kicked off with moderator Paul Pariser, Co-CEO of Taconic Investment Partners asking the panelists about some recent career highlights and their backgrounds before moving on to other hot topics and trends. 

This dynamic panel, moderated by alumna Nancy Lashine '81, brought together three visionaries whose companies are cultivating change within the commercial and residential real estate markets. 

David Sherman moderated a panel of four distinguished real estate professionals, trying to unpack a simple question with an answer that was anything but: how long can this commercial real estate cycle last?  

Students in this year’s Real Estate Projects Class taught by Adjunct Associate Professor Andrew C. Jacobs ’96 worked diligently all semester in preparation for the Alexander Bodini Competition held at Columbia Business School on December 9, 2015. Competition was stiff, but MBA students Nikhil Chaudhri ’16, Taylor Ott ’16 and Aradhna Taneja ’16 ended up winning first place in the Alexander Bodini Foundation Prize Competition. 

On Friday, December 4, 2015 the Real Estate Association (REA) met with representatives from DDG to tour one of their latest projects, XOCO 325, a luxury condominium development located at 325 West Broadway in SoHo, Manhattan.
