On Friday, April 24th, the Real Estate Association (REA) and members of the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate met with executives and property managers from Tishman Speyer and toured the firm’s Rockefeller Center complex. The tour was led by Chris Roth ’14, a graduate of the Columbia Business School Executive MBA Program, who is responsible for asset management of Rockefeller Center.

The Columbia Business School Real Estate Association (REA) is pleased to announce the co-presidents and vice presidents elected for the 2015–16 academic year. The officers, all in the class of 2016, were elected by the REA membership. Assistant vice presidents will be elected from the incoming class in the fall.

Just in time for cherry blossoms, the Columbia Business School (CBS) Real Estate Association (REA) traveled to Washington, D.C. to learn more about current investments trends and opportunities within this uniquely supply constrained and public sector driven market.

On Monday, March 30th, the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate hosted a screening of the film Dream Builders on campus, which was followed by a question and answer session with the firm’s principal, Peter Lehrer. 

During Columbia Business School’s spring break from March 14 through 22, a group of 22 real estate students and faculty members traveled to Bogotá and Mexico City to understand more about these emerging markets, their real estate dynamics, and doing business in these cultures. On the docket were full days of visits with local real estate players such as Terranum Capital in Bogotá and Thor Urbana Capital in Mexico City, in addition to city tours and visits to historical sites and museums.

On March 3, 2015, the Columbia Business School Real Estate Association (REA) with support from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate presented its first annual Real Estate Technology and Entrepreneurship event as a part of the Centers’ Career Panel Series, to a room filled with current students and alumni attendees. 

Charles Griffith '16 has been named an International Council of Shopping Centers Foundation Charles Grossman Graduate Scholar. The award includes a scholarship as well as a grant for travel expenses to attend ICSC RECon, the global convention for the shopping center industry, which will take place in Las Vegas in May.

On Friday, March 6th, WeWork hosted members of the Real Estate Association and Paul Milstein Center staff for a tour of its workspaces at Bryant Park and a discussion about the WeWork brand, its expansion plans, and the future of commercial office space.

On Friday, February 27, the Real Estate Association spent the afternoon with the Related Companies, listening to insights from executives and touring existing properties and developments. The group of over 20 MBA students first toured the Shops at Columbus Circle at Time Warner Center, where the leasing manager, Lauren Hammer, gave an overview of the tenant mix and shared some interesting facts about the property.  

For the fourth year in a row, Columbia Business School placed in the top three at the invitation-only UNC Real Estate Development Challenge. Dennis Giuliano '15, Andrew Kim '16, Ashley McDonald '15, and Rob Nitkin '15 of team "Equity Multipliers" finished third at the competition held on February 20-21 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
