Dan Rosensweig, the president and CEO of Guitar Hero, a division of Activision, has been appointed Columbia Business School’s newest executive in residence.
Rosensweig served as an operating principal at Quadrangle Group, a private investment firm, where he focused on the firm’s media and communications private equity business from 2007 to 2009. Prior to that, he was the COO of Yahoo! from 2002 to 2006, where he oversaw the company’s worldwide operations, including its product development, marketing and advertising sales. He also spent 18 years at Ziff Davis, most recently serving as president of the company.
In his role as executive in residence, Rosensweig will have the opportunity to give guest lectures, work with campus clubs and conduct brown-bag luncheons for students with common interests. He will be available to counsel students on career planning, strategy and professional development. Executive participants in the program are appointed for renewable one-year terms.
“He is a fine addition to this exceptional group of individuals whose contributions to industry are impressive,” said Dean Glenn Hubbard. “I know that our students will benefit enormously from his knowledge and talents.”
The Executive in Residence Program was established in 1977 by the late Robert W. Lear, who was chairman and CEO of F. & M. Schaefer Corporation. Donald C. Waite III ’66, who is a member of the School’s Board of Overseers, has served as director of the program since 2002. The program brings business leaders into the MBA programs to mentor current students.
