Columbia Business School has launched EMBA Saturday, an innovative path to a Columbia Business School MBA. Complementing the School’s other Executive MBA programs, EMBA Saturday is designed to meet extraordinary market demand for a full MBA experience through intensive Saturday-only coursework.

"EMBA Saturday is a first-in-class innovation in executive MBA programming that recognizes current employment trends and the needs of a new class of executives," said Dean Glenn Hubbard, the Russell L. Carson Professor of Finance and Economics.

The program will solve a common dilemma facing talented professionals working in competitive industries.

"Now these top achievers can pursue an MBA without forfeiting a hard-earned spot in a top firm and without having to secure corporate sponsorship," said Ethan Hanabury, senior associate dean for degree programs.

Unlike the existing Friday/Saturday EMBA option, employer sponsorship of time is welcome but not required.

"EMBA Saturday places top-tier business education within reach of busy professionals in even the most competitive and demanding industries," said Mark Gallogly '86, managing principal of Centerbridge Partners and a member of the School’s Board of Overseers.

EMBA Saturday students will meet each week from 8:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. at Columbia’s Morningside Campus over the course of 24 months, excluding holidays and other breaks. The program runs for six consecutive terms (in contrast to EMBA Friday/Saturday’s five terms). Both EMBA programs require the same course credits as the School’s traditional MBA program and follow the same rigorous curriculum and admissions standards. After completing the core curriculum, EMBA Saturday students will have the opportunity to take elective courses with students in other EMBA programs as their schedules permit.Applications for the inaugural EMBA Saturday class, which will begin in May 2011 and graduate in May 2013, are currently being accepted. Like all Columbia Business School degree programs, admissions decisions will be made on a rolling basis.
