Two new real estate elective courses will be offered in the Spring 2010 semester – Real Estate Development and Real Estate M&A and Restructuring Deal Workshop. Additionally, Real Estate Fundamentals, taught by Executive in Residence M. Leanne Lachman, will be offered in Summer 2010. This course offers January start students the opportunity to take a real estate elective course during their second term.

Columbia Business School and Columbia Law School announced on January 7 a new joint proposal to stem foreclosures through loan modifications. The plan aims to facilitate mortgage modifications, and thus reduce foreclosures, by compensating servicers and removing some legal constraints.
